Dulcie Butterfly - Boston Spa Leeds

Boston Spa is a village in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire. With glorious scenery the village attracts many hikers and day trippers to enjoy the countryside and local walks.
I found this tea room via instagram and automatically fell in love with it.
Dulcie Butterfly is found on a busy but quaint street in Boston Spa, but it is not your ordinary standard tea room. It is a vintage gift shop, flower shop and tea room all in one. Owned by a beautiful lady called Dulcie who is also a florist, wedding planner and photographer, it is an incredible tea room. Unfortunately I did not get to meet her. :( But I did get to hear all about her from her lovely mum.
This photo is not my own but from the website

So during one of my mums days off from work in February, I convinced her to drive all the way across to Boston Spa to visit this perfect tea room.

The d├ęcor in the tea room is amazing and very clean. However due to the amount of gifts the shelves and cases appear cluttered.

Each table had shabby chic chairs, a glass top over the lovely table cloths to avoid it from stains and a delicate hand made flower arrangement.

We picked a table with my favourite style of chair and a deep pink carnation as they are my mums favourite flower. Behind us was a large pink glass cabinet containing a small selection of the exquisite items for sale ranging from hair clips to soaps.

During my visit there were only two members of staff working, both of whom were dressed impeccably in vintage 1950's style clothes and had victory roll hairstyles, they looked fantastic. The ladies were so lovely and polite and I was already in love with Dulcie Butterfly before we had even ordered.

Much to our delight we were informed there was more seating and gifts downstairs, it was like a little gold mine packed with hidden vintage treasures!

But what about the tea and cake?

We ordered orange cream and my all time favourite victoria sponge. Cut perfectly, both sponges were a perfect golden colour with a light and fluffy texture.

Orange Cream
The orange cream was very similar idea to a Victoria sandwich with two orange flavoured sponges separated by a layer of thick orange butter cream. Refreshing and sweet, I would highly recommend it as it is the best orange cake I have ever had.

Victoria Sandwich
The Victoria Sandwich had extremely thick butter cream and very little strawberry jam, however both the sponge and cream were divine.

Both pots of tea were made with tea bags which is slightly disappointing from a tea room of this standard. I would expect there to be loose teas available as well. I opted for the rose garden tea, it was very elegant but refreshing and to my surprise it was a twinings!

Overall I would rate my experience at Dulcie Butterfly Tea Room - 5 Stars
