Vintage Rose Tea Room - Llangollen

Llangollen is a small town in the north-east of Wales, renowned for the surrounding hills and the river dee I can assure you there is something for everyone in Llangollen.

We stopped off at Llangollen on our way to Pembrokeshire to visit the Vintage Rose Tea Room.
From the outside, the tea room appears sweet and inviting.
It was a small tea room with a little yard/ tea garden outside, when we arrived there was only two other people enjoying tea and scones. Inside a lot darker than I have perceived it to be (By the tripadvisor photos) with predominately dark wood interior and dull lighting. However there was matching floral tablecloths and wallpaper which did brighten the place up slightly. I also think the fact that all the tablecloths matched overall gave the tea room a neater appearance.

The two staff greeted us with a accepting and warm manner, informing us on the cakes in the display and seating us to a table.
A couple who walked in after us ordered one afternoon tea to share and I was very impressed for £7.95 you receive four sandwiches, a large slice of cake and a scone with jam and cream, a very good scrumptious deal!

The Drinks
Like many tea rooms I have been in, the vintage rose too had a lack of cool beverages this always really shocks me as not everybody enjoys tea or coffee. My sister was with us on this tea room visit and we really struggled to find something for her to drink. In the end we settled for a glass of cooled milk, luckily she thoroughly enjoyed this and was happy sipping away in the corner.
The Vintage Rose Tea Room also has a wonderful array of china teapots with floral patterns. I loved both the tea pots me and my mum had (especially the top one). I ordered a simple green tea, which came in a tea bag form.

The Cakes
We ordered a coffee and walnut and almond apricot sponge. Both were two sponges sandwiched together with a filling.

The Coffee and Walnut had a dark sponge with a fresh, soft texture and a strong espresso taste, containing many walnuts and bursting with flavour. The icing was delicious as it too had a espresso taste.

The Apricot and Almond sponge was in the style of a Victoria, The sponges contained dried apricots and were separated by Apricot jam and butter cream. The butter cream this time was too soft and the sponges actually fell apart easily. I also found it very difficult to taste the almond apart from the few flaked almonds and the top.

Overall I would rate my experiences at The Vintage Rose Tea Room - 4 stars
